Considering the number of awesome and cool watches for men that are on the market today, it’s hard to imagine that the wristwatch is a historically recent invention. Wristwatches were available in the latter half of the 1800s, but it wasn’t until World War I that they became popular.

It's an exciting story. Most men heading for the trenches used pocket watches. For convenience, however, they started finding ways to fashion the pocket watches into wristwatches. After the war, the practice of adapting from pocket to wrist became the thing to do. Fast-forward a century, and the wrist-worn forms are still considered cool watches for men in 2021.

Nobody can argue that watches aren’t convenient. But can’t you just use your phone? Yes, you can check the time on your phone, but you can't just sneak a glance at it without seeming rude. Plus, most of us are not disciplined enough with our smartphones to simply check the time and look away, with notifications glaring back at us. We’ll want to check messages, then follow up … and the cycle begins.

Practicality aside, awesome looking women's watches are an excellent way for women to express themselves. As men, we don’t generally have the full range of accessories to spruce up our wardrobes as women do, so having the right watch is essential.

Cool Watches for Men in 2021

We don’t have cool cheap watches for men. But for the top-notch quality you get, our watches are certainly more affordable than most luxury brands of equal excellence. We run our boutique brand slightly differently than most. We keep our prices reasonable by paring back the features and giving you the comfort of simplistic distinction. 

So, if you’re looking for a watch with all the bells and whistles, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for a watch that is beautiful and of outstanding quality, you’re in the right place.

In Denmark, we prize simplicity. We founded our company on the same principle. We partnered with Jakob Wagner, a designer who ascribes to the same principles, to create our timepieces.

We decided to keep things simple by choosing just four designs. What makes our brand unique, though, is that you can customise your choice to build the watch that’s perfect for your style and personality. You can:

  • Select a different colour for the dial: Our dials come in white, navy, or black (except for our Philosopher model, which comes with a white dial only.)
  • Select a different colour or type of strap: Our straps come in various colours. You can choose leather, stainless steel, rubber, nylon, or vegan leather.
  • Select a different colour for the watch casing: We have four casing colours to choose from  – gold, rose-gold, gunmetal grey, and silver.

Let’s take a look at the specs for the four designs we offer. These designs are cool and awesome, for sure, and don't look like your grandfather's watch. 

The Pioneer

This chronograph looks similar to a designer dive watch but comes at a fraction of the cost. The dial on the left ticks off the seconds, while the one on the right is a stopwatch. This model is perfect for keeping time during your jog or your workout.

The Pioneer is big and bold with a 42mm dial. Its rugged stainless-steel case and sapphire glass will stand up to a lot of abuse.

The Native

The Native is our most basic design. It’s perfect for the no-nonsense man who values a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. The casing is rounded and features sturdy, traditional lugs to support the band. The only markings on the dial are the hours.

The Philosopher

This model puts the fresh back in cool. The dial comes in white and features a brushed steel outer section that curves upward. The hour markings pick up the colour of the case to create extra interest.

This watch has lugs and a second hand, and the dial displays the date.

Infinity

With the Infinity, we’ve taken simplicity to a whole new level. We started by getting rid of the lugs. Then we did away with extraneous design features on the dial to create a simple design with two hands to mark the hours and minutes only.

Awesome Looking Watches for Men

Nordgreen offers watches that are flawlessly designed and affordable too. We spoke earlier about the importance of simplicity. In Scandinavia, our love of simplicity is behind the principle of “hygge.” This principle is an integral part of our lives here.

Hygge reminds us that the small things in life are important too. It reminds us to slow down and appreciate what we have. We clear out unnecessary junk and clutter so that we can move forward unencumbered.

When we had our first meeting with Jakob Wagner, we asked him to put his spin on hygge through design. And we have to say that he nailed it. Our range is simple, elegant, and can go head-to-head with other designer brands.

Why Nordgreen?

Our name gives you an idea of our priorities. "Nord" is a nod to our ancestry as we believe that our Nordic roots are fundamental. The "green" refers to our commitment to creating a sustainable business. We're passionate about protecting the environment and being a socially responsible company.

How Can You Sell High-Quality Watches at Such Low Prices?

That's a great question. The reason that designer watches tend to be so pricey is that they have so many features. These are cool to play with, but how many would you really use?

We classify our prices as mid-range. We've pared down the number of features significantly so we can charge a more reasonable rate than other designer brands.

We still use the best movements (watch “guts”) in the business – Miyota movements, which keep perfect time. We also splurge on the glass. We choose sturdy sapphire glass that's scratch-resistant so that your watch looks great for years to come.
