Our Never Stop Giving COVID-19 Relief Campaign
COVID-19 has plunged us all into a global health crisis and an economic downturn. The word ‘crisis’ in Japanese (危機=kiki) consists of the kanjis 危=”danger” and 機=”opportunity”, among other meanings, which brings us to reflect upon what the word 'crisis' means to us as a global society in the first place.
In today’s world we often hear the word ‘crisis’, yet this is the first one of this magnitude that we have to deal with without having similar historic events to learn from. One thing is sure though - a massive global crisis like this one is made out of opportunities for change, once the danger fades away, and we should be able to recognise them and act now for a better tomorrow.
We live in times of immense contrast. Some countries are emerging from the COVID-19 crisis to a considerable extent, and are able to reflect upon the whole rollercoaster of turmoils and emotions experienced globally throughout the past year and a half. Yet, others are still in the midst of it, and are in desperate need of help in order to prevail..
That’s why at Nordgreen, we see the current times as an opportunity to address the changes that some countries are ready to embrace, as well as to evoke the desire to help those in need in parts of the world where handling the severe dangers of the pandemic still prevails.
Nordgreen is supporting the WHO Foundation
Nordgreen has made a $15,000 USD donation that supports the COVID 19 Solidarity Response Fund, powered by the WHO Foundation. All the funds will come directly from Nordgreen's Giving Back Programme, and all funds received beyond that amount will be donated to the same mission in the period between June 3 - July 15. The Fund directly supports the work of WHO and partners to help countries prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Working with 194 Member States, across six regions, The World Health Organisation works worldwide to promote health, and to serve the vulnerable, with the goal to ensure that people around the world have universal health coverage and well-being, and protection from health emergencies. The WHO is responsible for setting up international health standards and guidelines, providing expert assessments of global health topics and health statistics on all nations and serves as a forum for summits and discussions on health issues.
Following our collaboration with Fuel Them LA where we donated 1700 meals to frontline medical workers fighting the pandemic in the US, as well as with Peace Winds Japan where we donated 3600 medical face masks which were in shortage in the beginning of the pandemic, we now aim to expand our efforts on a global level. Therefore, we are thrilled to be able to support the work of the WHO in times of immense crisis. Our donation will contribute to scaling up vaccination plans in the most vulnerable countries, the delivery of life-saving supplies and the guarantee of better infection prevention, strengthening surveillance systems and building trust within communities.
Never Stop Giving
The pandemic has put us in a situation in which we’ve been forced to re-imagine time and space in which we are alone, yet more together than ever. In some parts of the world, we are already experiencing a redefined normality, we are able to see each other’s smiles even through the medical masks that are still widely required to be worn.
We still find ourselves in the uncertain, yet exciting position of deciding what world we want to live in after COVID-19 enters history as a global period of loss, loneliness, financial turmoil, political division, but most of all a period of strengthening our ability to connect and cooperate on a global level.
Our Never Stop Giving campaign aims to highlight our desire to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and to give back where needed the most, as this is the only way out of the crisis. Join in our mission by supporting the COVID-19 Response Fund.
Give voice to your local COVID heroes
At Nordgreen we share the belief that every effort matters in tackling issues with global impact, as true force always lies in togetherness and collective action. We perceive it as part of our mission to fuel a desire for doing better in each and every individual, as that’s how collective actions are shaped and able to reach a global impact. That’s why through this video campaign we aim to give voices to your local covid heroes, the people that inspired you in some way and that you look up to in their efforts, and eagerness to take risks, in order to contribute to the well-being of others.
Share the story of your local covid hero, or how you’ve contributed to the fight with the pandemic with us via #neverstopgiving and let us share it with the world.
